“The NRA has historically opposed laws that were virtually tailor made to deny African-Americans the right to keep and bear arms,” says gun writer Sam Jacobs. “Many gun control laws to this day stem from the KKK’s fear of armed and independent minorities. The Rosewood Massacre in 1923 — a bloodbath led by a white mob that resulted in the destruction of an entire black community in Florida — was a clear example of how an armed black people could prevent future KKK raids.”
There are countless examples, going back three centuries, of black Americans fighting against those who would oppress them. But like the slave owners of the 19th century, today’s Democrat politicians would prefer that blacks remain unarmed and subservient to those in power.
In today’s society, being a gun owner makes you racist. I was told I was a racist by a black woman Black Jack dealer. It’s obvious she wasn’t educated in history, although she was eloquent in her speech. The two guys playing at my table were laughing as I schooled her 10 ways to Sunday. It was worth the $80-$100 I lost while she was our dealer. It was worth it to intelligently take apart every single word and argument she put forth and not get bounced for profanity. There are countless ways to tell a person to go get F’d without having to resort to telling them to go F’ themselves.
The thing that triggered her was my “Don’t tread on me buckle”. The comment that got her going over the top was “That’s the sound of freedom”. She believes “freedom” means you don’t need a gun to be free. It was good times. She and other people like her, black or otherwise, believe guns are a tool of racism and think it’s necessary for all of us to be disarmed so racism can stop.
In her world, being defenseless is the defense against violent racists. That’s akin to a rabbit using “cuteness” as a defense against being eaten. She didn’t like that statement at all. The one that I thought would get me bounced from the casino was, “You’ve done more for the Klan in the last 20 minutes than they’ve managed to accomplish in their existence. You disarm black people better than they do.”
