It appears that Ruger is finally seeing the light. I always found it unusual that they did not make an affordable Single Six. While it is a quality gun, and will last a life time, the price was pushing single action replicas in higher calibers. You can buy a Glock for what the Single Six is selling for in some parts of the country.

The Heritage Rough Rider has long been the model that took that spot in the market. At 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of the Single Six, it is a reliable and affordable option for those not wanting to spend a premium price for a single action 22lr revolver. Ruger must have seen the sales numbers so they have entered the market in that arena. The Rough Rider will now have some competition.

With Ruger’s history of value and reliability, I think this model will do well. So if you are looking to get into a plinker, a first gun, a varmint for around the barn, this looks like a winner from Ruger at a much more affordable price.
